WE RECYCLED 50 YEARS AGO WAY BETTER THEN THEY DO NOW !!! READ !
What
did " GOING GREEN" mean 50 Years Ago ?
Subj: The green thing ...
Checking out at the store, the young cashier suggested to the much older lady that she should bring her own grocery bags, because plastic bags are not good for the environment.
The woman apologized to theyoung girland explained, "We didn't have this 'green thing' back in my earlier days."
The young clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment for future generations."
The older lady said our generation didn't have the"green thing" in its day.
Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over SO. they really were recycled. But we didn't have the "green thing" back in our day.
Grocery stores bagged our groceries in brown paper bags that we reused for numerous things. Most memorable besides household garbage bags was the use of brown paper bags as book covers for our school books. This was to ensure that public property (the books provided for our use by the school) was not defaced by our scribblings. Then we were able to personalize our books on the brown paper bags.
We walked up stairs because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks.
But she was right. We didn't have the "green thing" in our day.
Back then we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throw away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy-gobbling machine burning up 220 volts. Wind and solar power really did dry our clothes back in our early days.Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing.
But that young lady is right; we didn't have the "green thing" back in our day.
Back then we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used wadded up old newspapers to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity.
We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blade in arazor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.
Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service in the family's $45,000 SUV or van, which cost what a whole house did before the"green thing." We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 23,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest burger joint.
But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the "green thing" back then?

DELETE U.N. FUNDS ?
Report: Trump asks State Department for 50 percent cut to UN funding
The
White House budget proposal is considering cutting funding of the
United Nations and its programs in half as it looks to shrink spending
by the State Department.
President
Trump’s administration is expected to slash the State Department budget
by 37 percent, and sources say the department’s staffers are looking to
pull funding from certain UN programs in order to meet that goal, according to a report from Foreign Policy.
Currently,
the United States spends about $10 billion a year funding the UN, which
amounts to about 20 percent of the organization’s budget. That money,
which funds efforts such as peacekeeping, vaccinating children, and
monitoring nuclear weapon programs, could seriously decrease, leaving
the organization to scramble for new ways to fund its international
efforts.
COULD YOU IMAGINE OTHER COUNTRIES HAVING TO FINALLY TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES ???
BELOW ARE COMMENTS MADE BY PEOPLE WHO CARE ENOUGH TO VOICE THEIR FEELINGS ON CHANGES THAT WILL MAKE OUR COUNTRY NO.1 AGAIN
- jake1 minute agoWHEN ARE ALL THE ONES THAT ARE PROTESTING ALL OVER AND GETTING PAID TO DO IT GOING TO GO IN FRONT OF THE U.N. ??

I
WAS JUST REMINDED THIS BY A SUPPORTER - ALL THE PLACES THAT WE ARE
POURING MONEY INTO FOR WARS, ARMS, ETC. ARE BURNING OUR FLAG, SO WHY ARE
WE THERE OTHER THEN SOMEONE'S MAKING A LOT OF MONEY OFF WARS.
One/Twenty Six
Cut
all UN funding, not just half. They are fast becoming an Islamist
leaning organization that does not even deserve to be housed on our
shores.
Impeach Now
Because who needs peacekeeping?
jake
HAS ANY COUNTRY OR WOULD ANY COUNTRY HELP US IF WE NEEDED HELP ??
Rich
We
need to cut all funding to the UN pull out of it and kick it off U.S.
soil. Time to stop taking care of other countries. They are not our
problem nor responsibility.
Swervedriver
That
is a fair request as the US pays far more financially towards the UN
relative to the other member states, including the other permanent
members of the UN's Security Council..
And yet the same UN has devolved (via their officials accepting kickbacks to their personal or NGO or front companies in its tax haven account for favors).
This is why in so many spheres, we see illogical decisions from the pen pushers in the UN to crises that even any layman can see a common sense approach to solve.

IN
THE U.N. THEY CALL OTHER COUNTRIES HUNGRY AND ABUSED PEOPLE THE
FORGOTTEN ONES. HEY OUR SOLDIERS GO OVERSEAS TO PROTECT OTHERS AND WHEN
THEY COME BACK THEY ARE THE FORGOTTEN ONES - THE GOVERNMENTS FICTICIOUS
WARS USING OUR PEOPLE HAS TO END. IN THE U.N. ( IF YOU GO TO THEIR
MEETINGS ) OTHER COUNTRIES SPEAK ABOUT WHAT THE PROPOSE THEY NEED, HOW
ABOUT LETTING THEM TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES AND THE WARS WILL STOP FAST..
I'M FROM THE VIET NAM ERA - A WAR THAT WAS NOT A WAR - HUNDREDS OF
THOUSANDS OF LIVES LOST - BUT THE END RESULTS ARE VACATION SPOTS AND
HOTELS BY HILTON AND OTHER MOGALS. GET WITH IT PEOPLE - "WE THE
PEOPLE" DO STILL HAVE THE RIGHT TO SAY "NO" IN THE SOUTH YOU CAN BE A
COP or FIRST RESPONDER FOR $8.00 and HOUR WHILE FOOD WENT UP BY 9%,
ENERGY 17%, FEDS RAISED THE INTEREST RATES, AND JOBS ARE LIKE GOING TO A
SLAVERY DEN ( Do what we tell you do or your fired there's many more
that need jobs ) AND DID YOUR SALERY GO UP AFTER THIS ? EVEN SOCIAL
SECURITY THAT YOU WORK FOR YOUR WHOLE LIFE AS IT IS TAKEN FROM YOUR
PAYCHECK IS NOW MONITORED AND NO RAISES GIVEN - THEY RAISED THE CHECKS -
Monthly Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits
for more than 65 million Americans will increase 0.3 percent in 2017
BUT THE COST OF LIVING WENT UP BY 7% AND MEDICARE WENT UP BY $75 SO
WHERE'S THE RAISE ON HOW SENIORS LIVE.. DO YOUR HOMEWORK PEOPLE - I
THINK I'LL RUN FOR AN OFFICE IF I GET ENOUGH SUPPORT FROM PEOPLE IN
AMERICA AT LEAST I'M NOT AFRAID TO SAY WE GOOFED AND PILLAGED OUR
POPULATION FOR THE LAST 100 YEARS IT IS TIME TO STOP, NOW !
Michael
A good start. Frankly, I'd defund them 100% and tell them to get the hell out of the USA!
jake
ANYONE
KNOW THE COST IT COSTS NEW YORK TO PROTECT EVERY DIPLOMAT THAT GOES TO
THE U.N. ?? BUT IF YOU GO TO AN EMBASSY IN ANOTHER COUNTRY YOU BETTER
HOPE THE AMERICAN GUARDS AT THE GATES CAN SHOOT STRAIGHT BECAUSE OTHER
CONTRIES DON'T PROTECT OUR INTERESTS IN THEIR COUNTRIES THEY LOOK THE
OTHER WAY
Cori
Thank you president Trump! The Islamic UN needs to be disbanded.
jake
MEDICAL
COSTS HAVE SKY ROCKETED - WHY ?? BECAUSE NO ONE PUTS THE MEDICAL
BUSINESS OR THE DRUG BUSINESSES UNDER A MICROSCOPE TO SEE WHAT THE
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE COST AMOUT IS AND THE RETAIL COST IS. AN ASPIRIN
COSTS .01 BUT IF YOU GET ONE IN A HOSPITAL IT COST $6.00 GO DO THE
MATH - SAME WITH DOCTORS - ONE CAME INTO MY ROOM WHEN I WAS IN THE
HOSPITAL LOOKED AT MY CHART ASKED HOW I FELT THEN LEFT - THE COST ON THE
BILL WAS $650 FOR THE VISIT - NICE MONEY FOR 5 MINUTES - STOP THIS SO
WE CAN HAVE AFFORDABLE HEALTH INSURANCE. THE INSURANCE COMPANIES DON'T
CARE THEY JUST PASS THAT COST OFF TO US IN POLICY RATE RISES.
j
jake
WE
HAVE FUNDED THE WORLD FOR MANY MANY YEARS IT'S TIME TO FUND OUR OWN
PEOPLE WHO ARE IN NEED OF HELP. BESIDES MOST OF THE MONEY GIVEN TO
OTHER COUNTRIES GOES IN THEIR GOVERNMENT PERSONS BANK ACCOUNTS NOT TO
THEIR PEOPLE. IN AFRICA THE MILITARY TAKES THE FOOD AND SUPPLIES SENT
FOR THEIR USE AND THE PEOPLE ONLY GET 1% OF WHAT'S SENT - GOOD WORK U.N.
LET THE WORLD PAY THEIR FAIR SHARES OF WHAT THE U.N. COSTS THE U.S.
LOWER OUR TAXES BY CUTTING WORLD SPENDING
Dav
Imagine the awesome country we would have if we stopped spending HALF our treasure going around the world killing people.
jake
REPORTS
SAY WE HAVE MORE OIL ON OUR OWN SIOL THEN ANYWHERE ELSE SO WHO CARES
HOW THEY TRADE. ALL THE MARKETS ARE A MONEY LAUNDRY. ACTUAL COST OF A
BARREL ARE BASED ON FUTURES OR WHAT WILL IT COST "IF" SO WE ARE PAYING
FOR WALL STREETS WHAT "IF" UNSTEAD OF WHAT IT IS PRICE.. THE PRICES ARE
GOING DOWN FAST BUT AMERICAS PUMPS HAVE NOT POSTED NEW PRICES YOUU CALL
THAT MARKETING OR RAKING IN THE BUCKS AS LONG AS THE OIL COMPANIES CAN
AND NOT GET CAUGHT
call it what it was
as
there are almost 200 member nations, we should be paying only 0.5% not
20 %, or we could be generous if we wish to stay a member and give them
1%.
Blanklook73
i
wonder what happens when the world decides to sell oil in another
currency other than US DOLLAR, that will bring the US to its knees
jake
I
AGREE !!! ABOUT TIME I'VE BEEN WRITING THE GOVERNMENT TO CUT FUNDING
FOR 20 YEARS AND NO ONE DID A THING.. GET OUT OF AMERICA AS THE UNITED
NATIONS IS NOTHING BUT A MEET AND GREET PLACE THAT COSTS N. Y. AND
AMERICA MILLIONS AND DOES NOTHING BUT HOST PARTIES AND LUNCHEONS. GET
OUT !
call it what it was
If
we are paying 20% of the UN's budget, does that mean there are only 4
other members? I think it is high time that everyone else pays their
share. Or we can just opt out entirely. We shouldn't have to be the
world's police force, let them pay us.
Waldo
Finally! About time to bail on the UN completely and send their head quarters into the EU some place.
Rollingwiththeconfusion
I
hate to say it, but I'll bet the children who have received those
vaccinations are often the ones that grow up to support the conflicts
that we seek to avoid with the U.N. Have the nuclear monitors done
anything to deter nuclear weapons proliferation? Neither Iran nor North
Korea let them in to do anything meaningful. There is no humanitarian
purpose where the outcome does not save lives. Our government should do
more than take money out of my pocket and hand it to useless
bureaucracy.
martin j m
The
un wouldn't need all this funding if all these countries would stop
all these wars be it civil or whatever and put all their money towards
their own people .We then could support those who are willing to help
their own people .
Jossef
Trump
continues to make the right decisions; there is no justification for
the US to continue to fund 22% of today's UN, where the majority of
members are dictatorships and which is contaminated with double
standards to protect these dictatorships. The UN in its current form
has outlived its usefulness.
Chilly Willy
Why not cut ALL welfare too??? Most beneficiaries do not actually need it.
Chilly Willy
Trump
has delivered on many things he promised us the people, in just a few
weeks. The reason demo_rats have such hatred for Trump is because he
stands by his word Everything he does is for America, America's values,
laws and the American people! God Bless My President, he is the people’s
president!!
Chilly Willy
50% only??? ....100% is still not enough.!
